Hundreds of people have backed a campaign to save a threatened Irish centre in Hammersmith – but thousands more signatures are needed within days in order to force a debate on its future.
The campaign to save the Irish Cultural Centre has been gathering steam in advance of a council meeting later this month, when staff hope to present a 5,000-strong petition opposing plans to sell off the building in Blacks Road.
If the target number of signatures is achieved by Thursday, January 13 it would mean councillors are obliged to hold a formal debate on whether to reconsider the sale.
