Controversial plans to demolish and redevelop Earls Court – and maybe the nearby West Kensington Estate and Gibbs Green Estates - are a step closer after the site's owners brought in a team of architects and designers to map out the area's future.
Capital and Counties PLC have enlisted Terry Farrell & Partners to work on the project, along with Hammersmith and Fulham Council and Transport for London.
They will produce an initial plan for community consultation in the autumn, with a planning application in about 12 months. Work will not start on the site before 2012.
The council has yet to decide whether the West Kensington Estate will be included in the scheme but there are fears among residents any demolition of their estate will leave them without affordable homes.
